Oxbow was launched in 1985 in France by surfer Fabrice Valéri, who set out to make boardshorts with innovative designs. together with the designer Isabelle Cachot. They started making clothing across the activity sports of surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, skiing and snowboarding. Oxbow is now owned by French sportswear firm Lafuma, purchased in 2005.
